Bill Shute has worked in the public affairs field since 1989. Bill began their career at Southwestern Bell as Executive Director of Federal Relations. In 2000, they moved to R. Duffy Wall & Associates as Senior Vice President. In 2001, they joined The University of Texas System as Vice Chancellor for Federal Relations. In 2015, they joined The LBJ School of Public Affairs as Executive Director of the Washington Center, Lecturer, and Interim Director of the Washington Center. In 2016, they became an Adjunct Professor for The Archer Center Graduate Fellowship Program. In 2019, they joined Dome Compass as Chief Operating Officer and Chairman of the Scholars Advisory Board. Bill also created and hosted 80-Proof Politics.
Bill Shute received their Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from The University of Texas at Austin between 1981 and 1984. Bill then attended the University of Houston Bates College of Law, where they obtained their Doctor of Law in 1987.
