Believing that there had to be a different way – a better way – to manage real estate, Duke Dodson founded Dodson Property Management (DPM) in 2007. The purpose: create experiences that instill a sense of trust, comfort and pride in owners, in tenants, and in his own people.
Since then, Duke and his team have grown Dodson into one of Virginia’s largest and most reputable residential and commercial property management companies, overseeing 2,400 single-family homes, 3,300 multifamily units, and 2.3 million square feet of commercial space. The company has also brought its expertise, technology, and people into managing 14,000 homeowners’ and condominium association units throughout Central Virginia.
Perhaps it is his one-time career as a professional poker player, but with calculated risk and a sharp business insight, Duke has risen quickly to become one of Richmond’s most prominent commercial and residential developers. Dodson Development Group has developed dozens of projects in Richmond, Fredericksburg and Colonial Beach, Virginia, with total development costs coming in at over $100 million.
Duke is the past president of both the Richmond and Virginia chapters of the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM) and has served on the local chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). Duke serves on the Property Management Board of the Better Housing Coalition, on the Urban Land Institute's Local Product Council, the Randolph-Macon College Board of Associates, the VCU Foundation and the Virginia Tech School of Real Estate. He received his B.A. in Economics from Randolph-Macon and his master’s in business administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
