John Rice serves as an Elder Knowledge Keeper at Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child & Family Services since September 2021. Previous experience includes self-employment with Tomgwehweh Drums and a role as a Social Worker at Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Indigenous Interprofessional Primary Care Team. Notably, John Rice worked as an Aboriginal Services Counsellor for the Canadian Mental Health Association - Simcoe County Branch, focusing on holistic healing within an Aboriginal framework. Additionally, John Rice has experience as an instructor in the Aboriginal Social & Community Development Program at Georgian College and as an Elder/Healer in the Pathways Program with Correctional Services Canada. Earlier in the career path, John Rice provided spiritual services as an Aboriginal Healer at Mental Health Centre Penetanguishene. Educational background includes part-time studies in Native Studies at Laurentian University and incomplete BA studies in Linguistics at Carleton University.
