Suraj Kamarapu has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. In 2012, they started their career as an Executive (Operations) at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, where they managed a team of over 100 and handled logistics and budgeting. From 2014 to 2017, they worked as a Design Engineer at Achira Labs Pvt. Ltd., focusing on developing fluidics pumping setups for microfluidic cartridge analyzers. In 2017, they joined the University of Utah as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they developed computational frameworks to model fluid flows in porous mediums and investigated the effect of various factors on micro-robots. Suraj also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant during this time. In 2022, Suraj became a Senior Systems Engineer - Microfluidics at LexaGene, where they worked until 2023. Currently, they are a Senior Product Development Engineer at DNA Electronics (DNAe).

Suraj Kamarapu completed their Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Warangal from 2008 to 2012. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Utah, which they completed from 2017 to 2022. In addition to their formal education, Suraj also obtained two additional certifications: one in "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter Tuning, Regularization, and Optimization" from DeepLearning.AI in December 2017, and another in "Neural Networks and Deep Learning" from the same institution and month.
