Xin Chen, MBA, Ph.D, PE has extensive experience in geotechnical engineering and leadership roles. They began their career as a Geotechnical Engineer at KCI Technologies, Inc. in 2005, and then moved to Michael Baker International in 2006. In 2007, they joined the Maryland State Highway Administration as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer before being promoted to Lead Geotechnical Engineer and later Assistant Division Chief. In 2016, Chen joined DMY Engineering Consultants Inc. as the Geotechnical Practice Leader, overseeing their operations in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas. Currently, Chen serves as the Vice President of DMY Engineering Consultants Inc. They have demonstrated expertise in managing geotechnical practices and technical programs, as well as specification review and development services.
Xin Chen holds an extensive education history, starting with a Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Tongji University, which was completed from 1993 to 1997. Following this, they pursued further studies and obtained a Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Tongji University between 1997 and 2000.
Moving forward, Chen enrolled at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where they successfully completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering from 2001 to 2004. In pursuit of additional knowledge and skills, they then attended the University of Maryland - Robert H. Smith School of Business, earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from 2007 to 2011.
