Kjell Hugo Aasland has a long and varied work experience, beginning with their role as an Analytiker/Produktutvikler at Storebrand in 1997. Kjell Hugo then moved on to If P&C Insurance in 2000 as a Corporate Controller, before joining KLP in 2002 as Direktør konserncontroller and Avdelingssjef forsikringsøkonomi. In 2013, they became Konserndirektør økonomi / CFO at Troms Kraft AS, followed by a role as CFO at AS Green Cube Innovation Holding in 2016. That same year, they took on a role as Forretningsanalytiker at Broadnet Technologies. Kjell Hugo then moved to Eltel Sønnico AS in 2015 as a Forretningsanalytiker, before becoming CEO at Blue Energy AS in 2017. In 2021, they were appointed CEO at Blue Wash AS, and in 2022 they are currently CFO and Management consultancytCFO at DLTx.

Kjell Hugo Aasland obtained a Høyskoleingeniør in Bygg & Miljø from Ingeniørhøyskole Trondheim between 1990 and 1993. Kjell Hugo then attended UiT- The Arctic University of Norway from 1993 to 1994, where they obtained a Grunnfag/Mellomfag in Sosialøkonomi. Kjell Hugo later attended the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from 1994 to 1997, where they obtained a hovedfag/Cand. Polit in Sosialøkonomi.
