Alyssa M. has extensive work experience in content development, marketing, and journalism. In their current role as the Director of Content and Social at Discovery Place, they oversee content development and storytelling strategies for the network of museums. Previously, they held the position of Content Marketing Manager at United Way of Central Carolinas, where they were responsible for managing content marketing initiatives.
Alyssa also has a background in journalism, having worked as a Senior Multimedia Journalist for Spartanburg Herald-Journal and as a Staff Writer for Spartanburg Magazine. In these roles, they won eleven press awards for news coverage and played a key role in expanding the paper's web and mobile presence through managing social media accounts and multimedia applications. Before that, Alyssa worked as a Reporter and Columnist for The Daily Courier. Additionally, they have been actively involved in Social Media Charlotte, where they served as the Chair of Membership and a member of the Events Committee.
Alyssa M. has studied at American University, focusing on Communications and New Media. Additionally, they attended Furman University, where they earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communication Studies and English.
