Shakeima Rivers

Juvenile Assessment Center Supervisor at DISC Village

Ms. Shakeima Rivers graduated from Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University (FAMU) in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in the studies of Juvenile Justice.

Ms. Rivers was hired by the Leon County Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) in 2014 and has grown within her role at the facility since her hire through promotions into new positions. In February 2020 Ms. Rivers became the JAC Supervisor where she is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the facility and provides supervision to approximately twenty employees. Ms. Rivers is part of the JAC Steering Committee that meets quarterly and is made up of the community stakeholders in the area of Juvenile Justice in Circuit 2. As the JAC Supervisor, Ms. Rivers collaborates with community partners in the local court system, state agencies, local school system, and other community partners to ensure that the youth and families being served by the JAC receive prompt and professional services.

Ms. Rivers has shown her commitment to working with at-risk youth through her years of service in the Juvenile Justice system as well as advocating for youth, being a mentor, and assisting youth and their families as they navigate through the court system, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and other partnered agencies.
