Michelle Kim Kotval is a Senior Attorney at Disability Rights California since August 2021, with extensive experience in complex litigation and public interest law. Prior roles include Senior Attorney, Acting Supervising Attorney, and Staff Attorney in the Complex Litigation Unit at Community Legal Aid SoCal from September 2017 to August 2021, and Staff Attorney positions at both the Public Law Center and Inner City Law Center. Michelle also served as a Bridge Fellow at the Public Law Center and completed a law clerk position at Communities for a Better Environment. Additional experience includes externing for Judge Harry Pregerson at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and serving as a Housing Intake Counselor at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Government / Comparative Literature from the University of Southern California.
