Jose Zavala is a seasoned professional in technology transfer and commercialization, currently serving as the Commercialization Lead at Digitalis Commons since December 2023. Prior experience includes managing technology transfer strategies at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, where responsibilities included negotiating partnership agreements and overseeing software reporting. Jose's background also features a role as Commercialization Manager at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, focusing on patent portfolio management and intellectual property valuation. A postdoctoral research associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Jose conducted research on empathy in speech and text, building on prior work in redox-active polymers and human subjects studies. Jose has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a BS in Biochemistry from California State University, Fullerton.
