Sal holds deep experience in both experimental research and numerical models of thermodynamic and kinetic processes, including phase transformations, heat transfer, fluid flow, and mechanical deformation of metals. Before joining Digital Alloys, Sal was a senior research engineer, principal investigator, and project manager at Infinium Inc. where he led a team focused on the production of rare-earth and light metals from oxide using inert anodes. He has served as an expert reviewer of NSF grants in the areas of advanced manufacturing and rare-earth metals production. Sal holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a B.A. in Physics with high honors from UC Berkeley.
