John-Mason Shackelford

Director, Product Management - Devops at Digital.ai

John-Mason Shackelford has extensive experience in product management and engineering roles, specifically in the DevOps and Value Stream Management domains. John-Mason is currently the Director of Product Management for DevOps at Digital.ai, where they lead a team in developing next-generation DevOps and Value Stream Management offerings. Prior to this, they served as the Principal Product Manager for Analytics at GitLab Inc. and was responsible for the company's Analytics features, with a focus on Value Stream Management capabilities.

Before joining GitLab, John-Mason held the position of Product Manager for DevOps Solutions at HCL Technologies, where they led the product management for the UrbanCode Velocity product and played a key role in introducing the concept of Value Stream Management. John-Mason also served at IBM as a Product and Engineering Manager, where they built DevOps products including UrbanCode and Bluemix. During their time at IBM, they led the transition of the UrbanCode Release product to the company and built the UrbanCode Release business.

John-Mason's career includes leadership roles at UrbanCode Products, where they served as the Engineering Head and played a pivotal role in the development and launch of the UrbanCode Deploy and UrbanCode Release products. John-Mason also assisted in the due diligence process for the acquisition of UrbanCode by IBM.

Beginning their career at Pearson, PLC., John-Mason worked as an Agile Coach, Release Engineering Lead, and Software Engineer. John-Mason led the automation of build and deployment across multiple product lines and played a significant role in the agile transformation of seventeen product teams. Prior to Pearson, they worked as a Contract Software Developer at Technisource, Inc., and as a Software Developer at MetroBank NA.

Throughout their career, John-Mason has demonstrated a strong focus on DevOps, Value Stream Management, product management, and engineering, and has contributed to the development and success of various innovative products in these areas.

John-Mason Shackelford attended Hillsdale College from 1993 to 1998, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. Their major was History, and they also pursued a minor in Classical Languages. In addition to their formal education, they obtained several certifications in Pragmatic Marketing from Pragmatic Institute (Pragmatic Marketing + TDI) in December 2018. These certifications include Pragmatic Marketing Certified in BUILD, PRICE, and FOCUS.
