Hyesog (Joe) Lee has worked in the optical engineering field since 2005. Hyesog (Joe) began their career as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Berkeley, where they conducted research in Micro/Nanofabrication, Nanophotonics, and Plasmonics. In 2007, they joined Tanner Research as a Research Scientist, where they were responsible for winning project funding, managing projects, and drafting technical documents. In 2014, they moved to Samsung Display as a Senior Engineer and then a Principal Engineer, where they were responsible for investigating and developing new display concepts, designing and building system level prototypes, and leading projects. Lastly, in 2018, they joined DigiLens Inc. as a Senior Director of Optical Engineering, a Director of Optical Engineering, and a Principal Optical Engineer. In this role, they managed a team of engineers to build world-best AR Display solutions, designed and optimized Waveguides of various sizes for AR applications, and managed multiple projects as an active technical contributor.
Hyesog (Joe) Lee completed their B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles between 1997 and 2001. Hyesog (Joe) then went on to pursue a Ph.D in Nanophotonics from the same university, which they completed in 2007.
