Jorrit Montijn is an accomplished data scientist currently employed at Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) since November 2024, where responsibilities include utilizing education-related data to improve the accuracy of forecasts for policy decisions and ensuring fairness in fraud detection algorithms. Prior to this role, Jorrit served as a Senior Scientist (Postdoc) at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience from October 2018 to June 2024, focusing on the development of advanced machine learning tools. Jorrit’s academic journey includes a postdoctoral position at Université de Genève, where expertise in mathematical and computational skills was enhanced, and a doctoral research position at the University of Amsterdam, working on machine learning applications in neuroscience. Jorrit also has experience as a Teaching Assistant at Universiteit Utrecht and completed a research internship at Université Paris Descartes. Jorrit holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Amsterdam and both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience and Biology from Utrecht University.
