Matthijs van Spronsen

Beamline Scientist B07 at DIAMOND LIGHT SOURCE LIMITED

Matthijs van Spronsen is an experienced scientist with a strong background in chemistry and solid-liquid phase studies. Currently serving as a Beamline Scientist at Diamond Light Source since September 2020, Matthijs previously worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Berkeley Lab, investigating electrocatalysis and corrosion through in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy and ambient pressure XPS. Matthijs also held a Postdoctoral Fellow position at Harvard University and contributed as a PhD student at Leiden University, where the development of a state-of-the-art Scanning Probe Microscope was a key project. Additional roles include serving as Penningmeester for Stichting Scouting Sint Joseph Leiden and a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley. Matthijs holds both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Leiden University.
