Luis Carlos Colocho Hurtarte is a highly skilled beamline scientist currently working at Diamond Light Source since June 2023, specializing in X-ray nano-characterization for geosciences and life sciences at the Soft X-ray Microspesctroscopy Beamline (I08). Prior to this role, Luis served as a scientific researcher at ESRF - The European Synchrotron from September 2020 to July 2023, and as a scientific researcher and Ph.D. candidate at Technische Universität München between May 2017 and September 2020. Luis's academic background includes a Master's degree in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition from Universidade Federal de Viçosa and a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from the same institution, complemented by a visiting scholar experience in Agricultural Sciences at Technical University of Munich.
