José Alexander García

Research Consultant at DevTech Systems

José Alexander García has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. In 2009, they started as a Statistics Analyst at the Oficina Nacional de Estadística (ONE). From 2010 to 2012, they worked as an Account Executive at Nielsen, where they analyzed consumer trends and provided recommendations to improve business performance for clients such as Orange, PepsiCo, and DIAGEO. José Alexander then served as the Head of Research and Development Department at EDUCA - Acción Empresarial por la Educación from 2013 to 2016. In this role, they led research projects, coordinated social initiatives, and contributed to policy formulation at the Ministry of Education.

In 2017, José worked as an Education Policy Consultant at Columbia Law School, where they assisted in the development and implementation of school integration policies for the New York State Department of Education. José Alexander also gained experience as a Researcher at Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo, where they worked on projects related to higher education partnerships, impact evaluation, and the implementation of open data ecosystems.

José's work experience further includes roles at UNDP and DevTech Systems, Inc. At UNDP, they served as a Research Consultant and conducted studies on educational reform and poverty reduction in the Dominican Republic. At DevTech Systems, Inc., they worked as a Research Consultant, conducting a study on social conflicts, natural hazards risks, and resilience capacity of public schools in the country.

Currently, José is a Partner at Línea Base | Economic Consulting, where they continue to leverage their expertise in research and consulting.

José Alexander García has a Master's degree in Economics and Education Policy from Teachers College, Columbia University, which they obtained from 2016 to 2018. Prior to this, they pursued a Master's degree in Development Economics and Private Sector Development from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management from 2012 to 2013. José also holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo, which they completed from 2006 to 2010. In 2009, they attended Northeastern University for a course in Microfinance and Social Entrepreneurship.
