Paul MacDonald is the Vice President of Finance for the Red Wings. He joined the team as controller in 1992. His job has expanded and become more complex as the NHL has grown. He was promoted to his present position in the summer of 2002.
Prior to joining the Red Wings, Paul worked for eight years as an accountant and executive in the steel service and processing industry. During this time, he held the position of president of Prestole Corporation, a stamping plant in Metro Detroit. He began his accounting career in 1981, and obtained CPA certification while working in public accounting at Sutherland and Yoe, CPAs in Plymouth, Michigan.
A native of Livonia, Michigan, MacDonald holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Lake Superior State University. Paul has been on the boards of several non-profit organizations, including eight years as a board member for the Michigan Association of CPAs. Among several awards received over his career is his induction into the American Institute of CPA's Business & Industry Hall of Fame in 2008.
