Luke Mooney began their professional career in 2008 as a researcher for the MIT Visual Arts Program's Armadillo: The FEMA Trailer Project. In 2009, they joined the MIT Biomechatronics Group as a Graduate Research Assistant and Undergrad Researcher. In 2015, they became the CEO and Cofounder of Dephy, Inc.

Luke Mooney obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2012. Luke then went on to receive their Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 2014. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 2016.
