Sean Phillips possesses over 20 years of senior management experience in the South African public service, serving at municipal, provincial, and national levels. Currently, Sean is the Director General at the Department of Water and Sanitation, a position held since January 2022. Prior roles include working on structural reforms at the National Treasury and serving as an Independent Consultant at Sean Phillips Consulting. Sean has also held significant positions such as Managing Director at the Johannesburg Road Agency and the Municipal Infrastructure Support Agency, as well as Director General at The Presidency, where responsibilities included developing strategic frameworks and monitoring evaluation systems. Educational qualifications include multiple degrees in engineering and management from Warwick University and Wits University, alongside certification in Public Private Partnerships from the Nepad Business Foundation.
