Kevin Thompson has extensive experience working in the Canadian government, specifically within the Department of Justice Canada and Global Affairs Canada. Kevin has held various roles over the years, including Director and General Counsel at the Department of Justice Canada and Executive Director, Director General, and Legal Counsel positions at Global Affairs Canada. Throughout their career, they have been involved in trade policy, market access, trade remedies, North American policy, and government procurement. Kevin also has a background in trade law and has played a key role in coordinating Canadian government-wide policy towards North America.

Kevin Thompson obtained a Bachelor of Mathematics in Business Administration from the University of Waterloo - St. Jerome's University from 1988 to 1991. Kevin then pursued a degree in Law from the University of Toronto from 1992 to 1995. Kevin is also a Member of the Law Society of Ontario.
