Sam Whitney is an experienced professional in policy development and community engagement, currently serving as the Acting Executive Director and Director of the Aboriginal Justice Policy Reform Unit at the Department of Justice and Community Safety in Victoria since August 2020. Prior roles include Acting Director positions for the Stolen Generations Reparations Unit and Community Programs and Engagement in Youth Justice, as well as Manager of Community Programs and Engagement in Youth Justice. Sam's previous experience includes managing policy and research at the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria and serving as a Senior Policy Advisor at the Victorian Treaty Advancement Commission. Sam's career began at the Department of Premier and Cabinet in Victoria, progressing through various policy roles. Educational achievements consist of a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) and a Bachelor of Arts in International/Global Studies from Monash University, accompanied by a study abroad program in Law and International Studies at the University at Buffalo.
