Joseph Charles is a seasoned legal professional currently serving as Deputy General Counsel and Manager of Public Law and Litigation at the Department of Justice and Community Safety in Victoria since April 2020. Previously, Joseph held the position of Manager and Principal Legal Adviser at the Department of Treasury and Finance from July 2018 to April 2020, and was also seconded as A/Deputy General Counsel within the same department for a brief period in 2019. Prior experience includes serving as Senior Legal Adviser at the Department of Premier and Cabinet (Vic) from January 2017 to July 2018, and as an Associate at Corrs Chambers Westgarth from February 2012 to January 2017. Joseph completed both a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Politics (Hons) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at Monash University between 2005 and 2011.
