Roy Burton has worked in the NFL for three years, starting as an intern with NFL Films. There, they worked on editing, logging, and researching footage for ESPN show "Hey Rookie Welcome to the NFL" and ESPN+ docuseries "Peyton's Places". After their internship, they were hired by the Detroit Lions as a New Media Intern (Social Content). In this role, they assisted the social media manager and new media manager in creating content for multiple social media channels. Roya also closely monitored fan engagement, campaign performance, and captured in-game and practice content. Roya stayed on top of reoccurring trends in social media and edited and produced social video using Adobe Premiere Pro. In 2019, they left the Lions to take a position with the Denver Broncos as a Player Personnel Assistant.
Roya Burton achieved a Bachelor's degree in Journalism with a Sports Concentration from Michigan State University. Roya continued their education in Journalism at Grand Valley State University.
They are on a team with Rich Hurtado - VP, Football Administration, Tony Lazzaro - Senior Director, Football Technology & Research, and Darren Mougey - Assistant General Manager. Roya Burton reports to Kelly Kleine, Executive Director, Football Operations & Special Advisor to the General Manager.
