Margaret Shumbarger has a long and varied work experience. Margaret began their career in 2007 as a File Clerk at McLain & Winters and a Judicial Intern at the Washtenaw County Circuit Court. In 2009, they held two internships, one at the U.S. House of Representatives and one at the Washtenaw County Office of Public Defender. In 2012, they worked as a Contract Attorney at Lumen Legal and an Elections Intern at the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. From 2015 to 2017, they were a Senior Development Officer at United Way of Central New Mexico, and from 2017 to 2020, they were the Chief Development Officer at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico. Most recently, they have been the Partnership Development Manager at Democracy Works since 2020.
Margaret Shumbarger received their Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Margaret then attended Wayne State University Law School and obtained their Juris Doctorate. Lastly, they studied International Law and English Law at Notre Dame Law School.
