Alex M. Mawla, PhD, is a Senior Bioinformatics Engineer at Delfi Diagnostics since March 2022, with extensive experience in academia and research. Prior to this role, Alex served as a Lecturer and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of California, Davis, where responsibilities included developing hands-on labs for students and instructing large courses in genomics and neurobiology. Alex's doctoral research focused on integrative genetics and genomics, specifically in the context of diabetes, leveraging -omics and machine learning to investigate pancreatic islet cell fate. Additional experience includes internships in computational biology and bioinformatics at various institutions, contributing to significant research publications on cognitive deficits in psychotic disorders through neuroscience imaging. Alex holds a PhD in Integrative Genetics & Genomics and a BS in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from the University of California, Davis.
