Hagen Kaye

Principal Software Developer at Dejero

Hagen Kaye has over 30 years of work experience in the technology industry. Hagen began their career as a Computer Technician at M & W Computers in 1982. Hagen then worked as a Hardware Design Engineer at Lava Computers Manufacturing Ltd. in 1985. In the same year, they also started their own company, Hagen Research Group, where they provided custom hardware and software design and engineering services. At Hagen Research Group, they specialized in video signal processing, image processing, and developed image compression technology.

In 1995, Kaye joined Inscriber Technology as a Senior Software Developer. Hagen developed an image processing library and created device drivers for specialty broadcast TV graphics boards. Hagen also designed the VMAXX 20 graphics board for Interlace Engineering.

From 1999 to 2004, Kaye worked at eStudioLive as the Director of Research. Hagen directed research efforts in developing cutting-edge technology for broadcasting live video on the internet. This included software-based video switching and embedding metadata into video streams. Hagen also analyzed server-side scripting technologies from PHP to Java.

In 2002, Kaye became the Managing Partner at XtraLean Software. Hagen developed and marketed consumer applications for Mac OSX, provided consulting services on porting software to OS X, and contracted computer programming services to build iPhone apps.

In 2012, Kaye joined Dejero as a Senior Software Developer. Hagen was responsible for cross-platform C++ core development and hiring and mentoring UW co-op students. Hagen then progressed to the role of Principal Software Developer, where they became the technical lead on cross-functional projects, a subject matter expert on the technology used in all projects, and a mentor to other software developers.

Throughout their career, Kaye has gained extensive experience in software development, technical leadership, and project management. Hagen has expertise in C++, C, Objective C, OpenGL, assembly language, and various scripting languages.

Hagen Kaye attended Erindale Secondary School from 1979 to 1984, where they obtained a degree in SSHGD with a field of study in General. Additionally, in October 1998, Hagen obtained a Canadian Private Pilot License from the Waterloo Wellington Flying Club.
