Justin Oursler

Platform Engineer at Defense Unicorns

Justin Oursler has a diverse range of work experience. Justin started their career as a REACH Tutor at the University of Louisville, assisting students, faculty, and staff with various technical issues and providing tutoring in programming languages and mathematics. Justin then had internships at the United States Department of Defense, where they programmed in C, Python, and PyQt, designed hardware and software solutions, and maintained servers and communication devices.

Following their internships, Justin worked as a Computer Engineering Co-op at Heartland Payment Systems, where they scripted in SQL and programmed in C# with ASP.NET. Justin then joined the Criminal Justice Department at the University of Louisville as a System Administrator and SAN Administrator, administering a SAN and virtual machines for digital forensics support.

Justin later became a Computer Engineer at Gardetto Engineering, where they programmed in C, C++, and Java, worked with Linux and embedded Linux, and led the Android development initiative for the team. Justin then joined the US Army, serving as a Cyber Software Developer and a Cyber Company Executive Officer, where they developed network monitoring tools, performed reverse engineering, and managed administrative and logistic requirements for the company.

After their military service, Justin worked at Amazon Web Services as a Systems Development Engineer II, supporting multiple AWS services and driving changes to make applications more scalable and adaptable on a global scale. Currently, Justin is working as a Platform Engineer at Defense Unicorns.

Overall, Justin's work experience includes a strong background in computer engineering, software development, system administration, and technical support.

Justin Oursler obtained a high school diploma in General Studies from Somerset High School in the period of 2004 to 2008. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering Computer Science from the University of Louisville from 2008 to 2012.

In terms of additional certifications, Justin Oursler obtained the following:

- In June 2015, they became a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) through Cisco.
