Rhys McBurney has a diverse work experience in the field of security and technology. Rhys is currently employed at DEFEND as a Security Service Manager. Prior to this role, they worked as a Cyber Security Engineer at the same company. Before joining DEFEND, Rhys worked at Tower Insurance as a Security Engineer. Rhys also gained valuable experience at Fujitsu New Zealand, where they held the positions of Senior Security Analyst and Security Analyst. Rhys began their career at Mercury NZ as a Cloud and Infrastructure Solutions Engineer. Prior to that, they worked as an Infrastructure Solutions System Engineer at Mighty River Power. Rhys's earliest work experience was at Auckland Council, where they held multiple roles including Senior Desktop and End User Compute Analyst, Desktop Management Analyst, and Desktop Support. Throughout their career, Rhys has developed expertise in security and technology, demonstrating a strong commitment to their field.

Rhys McBurney pursued a degree in Sports Studies from the Eastern Institute of Technology from 1998 to 2000. Additionally, Rhys obtained several certifications in the field of technology and cybersecurity.
