Thomas Heseltine has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Thomas is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Deeper Insights since January 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Vice President of Artificial Intelligence Solutions at Vision RT Ltd from April 2019 to February 2023.
From 2016 to 2023, Thomas worked at Aurora-AI, where they first served as the CEO and later as the Head of Research. In their role as the CEO, they oversaw the company's operations, while as the Head of Research, they focused on the research and development of advanced biometric technologies, with a specialization in face recognition. Thomas also managed the application and integration of biometrics into practical working systems across various industry sectors.
Before joining Aurora-AI, Thomas worked as a Biometrics Consultant at a private consultancy from 2001 to 2004. In this role, they closely collaborated with companies such as Bio4 Ltd., Cybula Ltd., and AC Technology Ltd.
Thomas also gained valuable experience during their time at the University of York, where they worked as a Demonstrator from 2001 to 2004. Thomas'sresponsibilities included teaching undergraduates in computer science, specifically in the areas of discrete mathematics, programming, and database design courses.
Additionally, Thomas worked as a Biometrics Systems Engineer at Bio4 Ltd. from June 2001 to October 2001. Thomas contributed to the development of a face recognition system called FaceGate, which was utilized for secure site access. Bio4 also sponsored the first year of their Ph.D. studies.
Early in their career, Thomas worked as a Software Engineer at RCP Consultants from October 1999 to October 2000. During their industrial placement, they worked on foreign currency exchange software and automated testing software. Thomas later focused on researching emerging technologies, particularly in WAP and mobile computing.
Thomas Heseltine earned their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science from the University of York, where they studied from 1997 to 2001. Thomas continued their education at the same university and obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biometrics from 1997 to 2004.
