Dr. Alison Denton

Dr. Alison Denton has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various roles and industries. Dr. Alison started their professional career at Illinois Institute of Technology, where they served as the Assistant Dean of Special Projects at Galvin Library, the Director of the GIS Lab and Resource Center, and the Webmaster of the Galvin Library. During their tenure, they managed university projects, developed and directed the GIS Laboratory and Resource Center, and implemented new electronic information resources.

Following their time at Illinois Institute of Technology, Dr. Denton worked at Arlington Public Schools as the Director of Facilities Planning and Facilities Planner. In this role, they collaborated with staff, schools, parents, and community members to create expansion and renovation plans for schools. Dr. Alison also utilized GIS tools to analyze student data, make projections, and communicate with stakeholders.

Dr. Denton then joined Decision Lens, where they held multiple positions, including Senior Client Decision Manager, Director of the Program Management Office (PMO), Vice President of Account Management, and Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Alison developed and executed implementation plans for SAAS customers, set up and led the PMO, ensured customer success and renewals, and implemented new structures and systems for tracking customer engagement.

Most recently, Dr. Denton became a Founding Member of the DC Chapter of Chief, a private network designed to empower senior women leaders. In this role, they contribute to driving more women into positions of power and supporting their leadership journeys.

In 1995 and 1996, Dr. Denton attended the University of Michigan - School of Information. There, they obtained a Master of Information Science degree, specializing in Information Science and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Returning to their education in 2003, Dr. Denton pursued a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Fielding Graduate University. Their doctoral studies and research spanned a period of seven years, concluding in 2010, ultimately earning their an Ed.D. degree.
