Emy Demkes is a journalist currently serving as a correspondent on fashion for De Correspondent since January 2019. With a background in freelance journalism for organizations like RetailTrends Media and De Correspondent, Emy conducts in-depth research into the clothing industry, examining the supply chain from cotton plantations to retail. Previous experience includes work with OneWorld magazine, where Emy focused on sustainability, human rights, and animal welfare within the fashion sector. Emy began the career in journalism after an internship at OneWorld and has held various roles, including positions in the hospitality sector and as a baker at Albert Heijn. Emy holds a degree from Fontys Hogeschool Tilburg and completed a minor in Scripting for Designers at HAN University of Applied Sciences.
