Alison Gassett has an extensive work experience in the medical field. Alison began their career in 2007 as a Medical Technologist in the Core Laboratory at Boston Children's Hospital. During this time, they performed a variety of chemistry, hematology and urinalysis diagnostic testing, accessioned and prepared specimens for testing, and performed and evaluated quality control. In 2013, they moved to North Shore Medical Center as a Medical Technologist, where they performed hematology testing including complete blood count and coagulation assays on automated analyzers. In 2018, they began working at Boston Medical Center (BMC) as a Medical Technologist in the Microbiology Laboratory. That same year, they also took on a Performance Improvement Intern role at Cambridge Health Alliance, where they analyzed quantitative data to assess performance of courier transport system for laboratory specimens and supplies between 20 hospitals and outpatient clinics. In 2019, they became a Carter Stephen Ainsworth Health Policy Fellow at the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), where they conducted literature review investigating the racial and ethnic diversity of healthcare professions and analyzed quantitative and qualitative data from over 13,000 laboratory professional survey respondents. In 2020, they became a Clinical Supervisor at Brigham and Women's Hospital, where they developed quality indicators for laboratory QA program, collected and analyzed data from LIS, established quality goals, and visualized findings for management and laboratory staff. Finally, in 2022, they began their current role as Clinical Laboratory Supervisor at Day Zero Diagnostics, Inc.
Alison Gassett obtained a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology/Technologist from Northeastern University between 2005 and 2010. In 2011, they obtained a Medical Laboratory Scientist certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Alison then went on to obtain a Master of Public Health - MPH in Epidemiology from Boston University School of Public Health between 2018 and 2019.
