Shimon Lecht

Chief Innovation Officer at Day Three Labs

Shimon Lecht has an extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and cannabis industries. Shimon currently holds the position of Chief Innovation Officer at Day Three Labs since January 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Izun Pharmaceuticals from October 2016 to December 2021, where they managed an ISO17025-certified analytical laboratory and served as the Manager of the Cannabinoids drug development division. Shimon also worked as a Project Manager at Izun Pharmaceuticals from October 2016 to October 2017.

Before joining Izun Pharmaceuticals, Shimon Lecht worked as a Senior Consultant at InPri, a boutique consulting firm, from March 2010 to the present. In this role, they provided strategic planning for cannabis-based therapeutic and recreational products development, set up cannabis R&D activities, and provided court expert opinions.

Additionally, Shimon Lecht has held positions at various universities and research institutions. Shimon worked as a Guest Lecturer at the University of Nottingham from 2019 to 2022. Prior to that, they held the role of Chief R&D Officer at CannRx from January 2018 to December 2021 and as the R&D Team Manager from January 2017 to January 2018. Shimon also served as the Director of R&D at Ci Therapeutics from March 2017 to November 2019, where they focused on the development of advanced cannabis formulations.

Before transitioning to the cannabis industry, Shimon Lecht gained experience in regulatory affairs and quality control at consulting firms in Israel. Shimon worked as a Regulatory Affairs Projects Consultant from February 2015 to September 2016, preparing regulatory documents for FDA on behalf of early stage start-ups in the field of regenerative therapies.

Earlier in their career, Shimon Lecht held academic research positions at Temple University, Drexel University, and Pharma-Care Ltd. Shimon worked as a Research Assistant Professor at Temple University from October 2013 to December 2014, focusing on stem cell differentiation, 3-D cultures, nanoparticles, and PK. Shimon also worked as a Senior post-doctoral fellow at Temple University from January 2012 to September 2013 and as a Post-doctoral fellow at Drexel University from January 2011 to December 2011.

Furthermore, Shimon Lecht co-founded and led the Scientific Division at Pharma-Care Ltd. from January 2010 to January 2011. This pharmaceutical consulting company assisted pharma companies in decision-making for the development of new chemical entities and provided consulting pharmaceutical services to private patients.

Shimon Lecht began their education at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from 1998 to 2002. Shimon then went on to complete a Master of Science degree in Pharmacology at the same university from 2002 to 2004. Continuing their academic journey, Lecht obtained their PhD in Pharmacology from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem from 2004 to 2010. Shimon later joined Drexel University School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems as a post-doctoral fellow, specializing in Lung tissue engineering from 2011 to 2012. Finally, Lecht pursued further research as a Senior post-doctoral fellow at Temple University College of Engineering, focusing on Lung regenerative medicine and tissue engineering from 2012 to 2015.
