Berenguer Blasi

Apache Cassandra Committer at DataStax

Berenguer Blasi has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Berenguer is currently working as an Apache Cassandra committer at The Apache Software Foundation since 2021. Prior to this, they worked at DataStax from 2014, where they held multiple roles including Remote Java Software Engineer, Apache Cassandra committer, and Project Manager. Berenguer was responsible for developing the Apache Cassandra C* project and integrating Lucene/Solr, Datastax, and Cassandra codebases for the DSE Search product.

Before DataStax, Blasi worked at the European Investment Bank (EIB) in 2013 as a Project Manager and Java Software Developer. Berenguer was involved in back-office loans, payments, and settlements Java development, as well as planning the rewrite of the bank's loans managing software. Berenguer also handled procurement for software development services and managed the migration to the new software.

From 2009 to 2013, Blasi worked at Diputació de Tarragona as a Project Manager and Software Developer. Berenguer was responsible for milestone tracking, status reporting, stakeholder management, and communication. Berenguer had expertise in SCRUM, ITIL, and PRINCE2 methodologies. Blasi also had hands-on experience in Java development, using technologies such as JBoss, EJB, Maven, Oracle, XML, JSF, and many more.

Earlier in their career, Blasi worked at Credit Suisse as a Software Developer from 2007 to 2009. Berenguer played a crucial role in the development of an equity swaps and managed lending platform for the trading floor using .NET technologies.

Blasi also worked as a freelance contractor on various projects from 2005 to 2009. Berenguer worked on different technologies and domains according to the project requirements.

Other companies where Blasi gained experience include HBOS, where they worked as a Software Developer on a pensions platform, and Tadpole Technology, where they worked as a Project Manager for Ordnance Survey in a GIS/.NET project.

Blasi started their career at The Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care in 2005 as a Software Developer and Project Manager. Berenguer was involved in PHP development for the inner HR Payroll system and also worked on maintaining and developing new functionalities for the online website.

Berenguer'searly experience also includes working at Tempos 21, a joint venture between HP, Ericsson, Telefonica, and the Catalonian government. Berenguer had the role of a Technical Lead and Project Manager, focusing on the development of mobile applications, including a GSM location platform.

Berenguer Blasi completed the ITIL Foundation certification in 2012. In 2007, they obtained a Pre CFA I degree in Finances from CBFS in Zurich. In 2006, they earned a PRINCE2 practitioner certification in Project Management from New Horizons in Glasgow. From 1999 to 2004, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Gemmology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. In 2000, they received a Proficiency certification from the British council. Prior to that, from 1996 to 2000, they studied Telecommunications Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
