Charley Johnson

Program Director, Public Technology Leadership Collaborative at Data & Society Research Institute

Charley Johnson has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. In 2010, they worked as a Summer Associate at Innovations for Poverty Action. In 2011, they served as a Data Consultant at Microfinance Opportunities, and later joined USAID, where they held several positions including Senior Advisor, Chief of Staff, Acting Director of the Center for Digital Development, and Presidential Management Fellow. In 2012, Charley worked as a Lead Innovation Specialist at The World Bank and also served as a Writer for The Huffington Post's GPS for the Soul blog. From 2013 to 2015, they were a Senior Advisor at USAID, and from 2015 to 2017, they served as Chief of Staff and Strategy & Research Lead at the same organization. In 2018, Charley became an Adjunct Professor at The George Washington University and also held positions at the Data & Society Research Institute as Program Director for the Public Technology Leadership Collaborative and as Program Director for the Disinformation Action Lab. Charley'smost recent positions include Non-Resident Fellow at the Atlantic Council and Co-Founder & Instructor at The Facilitation Leadership Lab. Currently, Charley is the Founder of Untangled, a newsletter and podcast that explores the intersection of technology, people, and power.

Charley Johnson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and International Affairs from the University of Washington. Additionally, Charley has pursued a Master's degree in Public Policy (M.P.P) from the Harvard Kennedy School. No specific start or end years have been provided for these educational experiences.
