Rachael then worked at Alinta Energy as a Settlements Analyst and Administrator, handling power generation asset trading and gas market operations. Rachael also worked as a Market Analyst, providing analytical work for the electricity business. Rachael then joined ERM Power as an Energy Trading Manager, responsible for trading and dispatch in the energy markets.
Following that, Rachael worked at BHP Billiton Iron Ore as a Senior Contracts Officer, managing the gas portfolio and coordinating transportation and supply obligations. Rachael then joined BHP Billiton Petroleum as a Marketing Manager, overseeing gas requirements for various BHP Billiton operations.
Rachael worked at DBP as a Commercial Manager, managing gas transportation and storage contracts and executing construction projects. Their most recent position was at Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) as the Head of Commercial Operations for the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP), where they were responsible for commercial contracts, upstream partnerships, and emergency management in the gas market.
Rachael Smith obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Business/Commerce, General from Edith Cowan University from 1999 to 2002. Prior to that, they completed their High School Certificate at Churchlands Senior High School, spanning from 1991 to 1996.
