Ivan Navarro has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple roles and companies. Ivan started their career at PlastiaSite in 2008, where they worked as a Developer and Analyst, focusing on functional analysis and web application development. Ivan also had responsibilities in release quality control and product technical management.
In 2013, Ivan joined iMath Research S.L. as an R&D Engineer. Here, they worked on consulting for a German company, analyzing and developing functionalities in their main products based on cloud computing management. Ivan also worked on developing their own product, iMathCloud, for data treatment with cloud computing background.
In 2014, Ivan moved to Barcelona Supercomputing Center, where they worked as a Software Engineer/Bioinformatics. Here, they developed facility tools and extended Molecular Dynamic solutions like Curves+ and MDAnalysis in Python. Ivan also gained experience in High-Performance Computing with the Marenostrum Supercomputer.
In 2015, Ivan joined Prous Institute for Biomedical Research as a Software Engineer and KNIME. Here, they developed the main web application, Symmetry, based on drug discovery through molecule similarity. Ivan utilized Java, KNIME, and early knowledge of CUDA. Ivan also introduced automated testing systems and practiced TDD and Scrum.
Since 2016, Ivan has been working at Cytel. Ivan started as an Analyst, focusing on strategic consulting, quantitative analysis, and data science. Ivan developed R-based packages and Shiny applications. Currently, they hold the position of Software Engineering Lead, where they serve as the technical lead and manages a remote team spanning 14 time zones. Ivan is responsible for defining software architecture and platform.
Throughout their career, Ivan has demonstrated a strong background in software engineering, quantitative analysis, and data science. Ivan has experience in various programming languages and has worked on projects related to cloud computing, high-performance computing, and bioinformatics.
Ivan Navarro's education history includes a Certificate Course in Big Data and Social Analytics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya between 2011 and 2013. Ivan'sundergraduate education was completed at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences from 2001 to 2008.
In addition to their formal education, Ivan has also obtained several certifications. Ivan received a certification in Big Data and Social Analytics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in December 2016, and another one from the same institution in September 2016. Furthermore, Ivan obtained a certification in Big Data Analysis with Apache Spark from edX in August 2016. Ivan also completed an Executive Data Science Specialization and Machine Learning course through Coursera, obtaining certificates in June 2016 and May 2016, respectively.
