Dean Bialek

Dean Bialek has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Dean is currently working at CWP Global as the Chief Officer for External Affairs & Govt Relations. Previously, they were the Head of Policy & International Strategy at CWP Global. Before joining CWP Global, Dean worked with the COP26 UN Climate Champions Team as the Head of the International Politics Unit. Dean was responsible for leading the team in the area of climate politics. Prior to that, they were a Principal Advisor at Mission 2020, where they focused on global political strategy and the low-carbon transformation of energy systems in the Asia-Pacific region. Dean also has experience as the Founder & Managing Director of Former Glory Inc., a property venture aimed at revitalizing historic architecture in Australia. Additionally, they have worked as a Special Advisor/Negotiator for the Marshall Islands Government and the Alliance of Small Island States in the UNFCCC climate change talks. Dean also has diplomatic experience as a Diplomat at the Permanent Mission of Australia to the United Nations and as a Legal Adviser at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia. Dean has lectured in Environmental Law at the University of Melbourne Law School and has worked as an Adviser in the Legal Affairs Division of the World Trade Organization. Dean began their career as an intern at the Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development.

Dean Bialek has a Bachelor of Law (Hons.) / Commerce from Monash University, which they obtained from 1992 to 1997. Dean also completed a Study Exchange program in International Energy and Environmental Law at Leiden University in 1995. Dean pursued further education and obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in Energy & Environmental Law from the University of London (LSE / SOAS) from 1998 to 1999. Dean then earned a PhD in International Law from the University of Melbourne, completing their studies from 2001 to 2003. Lastly, in 2008, Dean studied Environmental Finance at Columbia | SIPA, focusing on project finance and carbon markets.
