Joi Shilling has been working in the video editing field since 2003. Joi began their career at Discovery Communications as a Lead Video Editor and Freelance Editor, where they worked on various projects such as "How We Invented the World" and "Project Earth: Ways to Save the Planet." In 2006, they began working as a Freelance Videographer and Editor for Sheffield Audio and Video Productions. From 2008 to 2011, they worked as a Freelance Video Editor for Jobson Sailing, JWM Productions, Impossible Pictures, and Sapling Pictures. In 2012, they began working as a Freelance Lead Series Editor for Sirens Media and a Freelance Video Editor for Steve Burns. In 2013, they began working as a Freelance Video Editor for Nature Films Network. Joi has been working as a Senior Video Editor for CuriosityStream since 2014.
Joi Shilling attended Villa Julie College from 1986 to 1992, where they earned an AA and BS in Television, Theatre Production, and Photography. Joi also holds four certifications from Coursera, obtained in 2013: Crafting an Effective Writer: Tools of the Trade; Inspiring Leadership through Emotional Intelligence; Gamification; and Property and Liability: An Introduction to Law and Economics.
