Mengyong Yan has had a long and varied career in the medical field. Mengyong began as a Specialist in Gastroenterology at Chengdu General Hopital in 1992. In 2003, they became a Postdoctoral Research Associate at University College London. From 2009 to 2012, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute of Child Health, UCL. In 2015, they became a Principal Scientist at Guangzhou Snow Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., where they were responsible for producing tumour specific TCR gene transduced T cell (TCR-T) with aim for clinical trial, and leading a team to develop pre-clinical research about the tumour specific high avidity TCR transduced T cell against cancer. In 2018, they joined Cure Genetics as Senior Director, where they were responsible for general management of R&D, PD (Process Development), GMP grade manufacturing of universal cellular therapy products including CAR-T (uCAR-T) against various cancer, establishing PD, GMP manufacturing of universal CAR-T (uCAR-T) for clinical trial, and establishing the biomarker monitoring programme for the uCAR-T clinical trial.
Mengyong Yan's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Immunology from The University of Queensland (2000-2003), a Master by Research in Epithelial Cells-T cell interaction from the University of Leeds (1996-1999), a Master of Medicine from Third Military Medical University (1989-1992), and a Bachelor's Degree in Medicine from Third Military Medical University (1981-1986).
