Kwame Som-Pimpong has a diverse work experience spanning across multiple industries. Kwame started their career as a Lobbyist at the Georgia Municipal Association, where they collaborated with GMA leadership to develop and implement the strategic vision for the Legislative Policy Council. Following that, they worked as an Analyst at the US Government Accountability Office, where they conducted various analyses, including assessing the impact of Dodd-Frank on the structured finance swaps market and evaluating the Department of Housing and Urban Development's enterprise risk management and strategic planning.
In 2011, Kwame co-founded Afara Global, a market research business focused on helping US companies understand the market landscape in African countries. Kwame successfully operated the business until 2016 when they decided to explore new opportunities.
In 2016, Kwame joined Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) as the Africa Business Fellowship Manager. In this role, they collaborated with MLT colleagues, as well as partners at the Econet Group and African Leadership Network, to send ten talented American business professionals to work for top companies across Africa. Kwame utilized their skills in various areas such as developing marketing strategies, pitching the program to potential funding sponsors, and selecting the best talent for the program.
Following their time at MLT, Kwame joined Deloitte Digital in 2018 as part of their Strategy team. Kwame contributed to the company's strategic planning and execution until 2022.
In addition to their work at Deloitte Digital, Kwame also co-founded CultureBanx in 2018. CultureBanx aims to redefine business, finance, and tech news for black professionals by delivering high-quality content focused on market-driven stories and innovative products/services transforming culture.
Lastly, Kwame recently joined Deloitte in 2022 as a Deloitte Catalyst, expanding their experience within the company.
Kwame Som-Pimpong obtained their high school diploma from Woodberry Forest School. After completing their high school education, they attended Davidson College from 2005 to 2009, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Following that, they pursued further education and obtained a Masters degree in Public Administration from The University of Georgia, from 2009 to 2011.
