Holly Gates

Holly Gates has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Holly is currently a Principal Engineer at CubicPV Inc., where they are working on building the world's biggest wafer factory outside of China. Their focus is on equipment and process technology for a 10GW mono wafer plant in the US. Prior to this role, they were a Founding Member of CubicPV Inc. since 2008.

Holly Gates also has experience as a Principal Engineer at CubicPV Inc. from 2013 to 2022. In this role, they designed, prototyped, debugged, qualified, and arranged production for custom electronic controls and instrumentation for wafer making machines. Holly was responsible for board design, firmware development, surface mount assembly, and digital and analog debug techniques.

Additionally, Holly Gates worked as an International Pilot Plant Support Engineer at CubicPV Inc. Holly provided engineering support for furnace equipment build in Korea and supported plant build, equipment installation, process development, technician training, and facility support at a solar cell factory in Malaysia.

Before joining CubicPV Inc., Holly Gates was a Senior Hardware Engineer at E Ink from 1998 to 2008. Holly served as the technical lead for the electronics group, integrating electronic ink material with electronics and systems. Holly collaborated with scientists, engineers, customers, and partners to develop electrophoretic display technology.

Holly Gates also worked as a Consultant at Evergreen Solar, where they designed custom hardware for the production of silicon ribbon for solar PV modules. Holly was involved in analog circuit design, signal processing, industrial electronics, PCB design, mechanical integration, and PLC interfacing.

Furthermore, Holly Gates had consulting roles at Konarka Technologies and MIT Media Lab. At Konarka Technologies, they served as a consultant from 2003 to 2006. At MIT Media Lab, they worked as a UROP, contributing to prototyping and development projects for reusable thermal paper and circuits on paper.

Additionally, Holly Gates gained experience as a Wind Technician at Zond Systems, where they were involved in the construction, troubleshooting, and repair of a 6MW wind power plant. Holly worked with cranes and heavy equipment and was responsible for troubleshooting and repair of various elements within the turbines.
