Kostas Batziakas, PhD has a diverse work experience. In 2008, they worked as a Customer Service representative for OTE. From 2014 to 2016, they worked as a Research Assistant for Food & Biobased Research Wageningen UR. During this time, they also worked as a Research Scientist and Research Assistant for Kansas State University, where they co-led and taught a five-day "Training of Trainers" short course in postharvest handling of horticultural crops at Sokoine University of Agriculture in Morogoro, Tanzania. Currently, they are a Senior Scientist / Technical Project Manager and Postharvest Physiologist / Receiving QC Manager for Crunch Pak, where they lead Research & Development projects to maintain the quality and increase the shelf-life of finished products, as well as assessing preharvest factors and harvest attributes affecting finished product quality.
Kostas Batziakas, PhD has an extensive educational background. Kostas obtained their Bachelor's degree in Horticultural Science from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in 2011. Kostas then went on to earn a Master of Science (MSc) in Plant Sciences. Greenhouse Horticulture/Postharvest Biology from Wageningen University & Research in 2014. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Horticulture - Postharvest Physiology from Kansas State University in 2019. In addition, they have obtained a number of certifications from various institutions, such as the Project Management Institute, Eller Executive Education, University of Idaho Cooperative Extension System, and Wageningen University & Research.
