Kelly Scappaticci has 20 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical and vaccine industry with expertise in project management and quality control. Her experience includes successful management of government and non-government programs as well as oversight of various subcontracting organizations including government institutes, universities, CDMOs, and contract testing organizations. In addition, Ms. Scappaticci has extensive quality control expertise in establishing product in-process testing and release specifications, validation of release assays, and stability testing of vaccine products.
Prior to Crozet BioPharma, Ms. Scappaticci was the Director of Project Management for BioProtection Systems, the infectious disease subsidiary of NewLink Genetics, where she was responsible for project management of various government contracts for the Ebola virus vaccine and for the Zika vaccine development program. In addition, she provided quality control oversight for these programs including due diligence to evaluate key strategic acquisitions.
Before joining NewLink, Ms. Scappaticci was with Sanofi Pasteur (formerly Acambis) in Quality Control for 14 years where she was responsible for managing all aspects of product testing for various clinical and commercial vaccine products including smallpox, Japanese encephalitis, West Nile, Herpes Simplex and Clostridium difficile. She was a member of various project teams to successfully license smallpox vaccine in the US, Japanese Encephalitis vaccine in South East Asia, and advance several early-phase vaccine candidates through the clinic. Prior to the Sanofi Pasteur acquisition of Acambis, Ms. Scappaticci was involved in the start-up of a new facility at Acambis for the production of smallpox vaccine for the US government. While at Sanofi, she gained significant experience interacting with regulatory authorities by participating in audits and regulatory submissions. In her prior roles, she held various positions of increasing responsibility at Organogenesis where she was responsible for testing raw materials and intermediate components used for the manufacturing of Apligraf®, a viable, bi-layered, skin construct.
Ms. Scappaticci earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with Honors from the College of the Holy Cross.
