Stefan Proell has a diverse work experience, starting in 2007 as a Data Manager at Ceratizit Austria. From 2008 to 2009, they worked as a Wissenschaftsjournalist at Wissenschaft.de. In 2009, they joined VI Knallgrau New Media Solutions, where they served as a Linux Server Administrator and Technical Operations employee until 2011. Stefan then moved on to UNIDO in 2010 as an Information & Communication Management staff member until 2011. From 2011 to 2017, they worked as a Digital Preservation Researcher at SBA Research. Finally, in 2017, Stefan joined Cropster, first as a Lead Data Engineer until 2019 and then as the Head Of Engineering.

Stefan Proell completed their education with a Master's degree in Business Engineering from Technische Universität Wien in 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Databases and Information Systems from Universität Innsbruck from 2007 to 2009. In 2008, Stefan briefly studied Informática at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Their undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in Informatik, was earned from Universität Innsbruck from 2002 to 2007. In terms of certifications, Stefan obtained a Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification from Scrum.org in 2019.
