Chapter President at Crohn's and Colitis Canada

Chantel Wicks has a diverse work experience starting from their role as an Executive Assistant at HarperCollins Canada, where they handled data entry, customer service, and general secretary duties. Chantel then worked as a Teacher at Ebbsfleet Academy, contributing to the development of an English scheme of work and improving student literacy skills. Chantel also served as a Teacher and Health & Safety Representative at Elementary Teachers of Toronto, advocating for colleagues and ensuring their rights were upheld. Additionally, they held positions at Crohn's and Colitis Canada as Chapter President and Gutsy Walk Chair, where they focused on programs, services, fundraising, and volunteer engagement. Chantel worked as a Podcast Host, Outreach Manager, and Writer for Guts & Glory, coordinating with producers to create engaging content. Chantel also worked at IBD Partnerships as a Patient Partner, providing insights and participating in a digital storytelling workshop. Chantel's role as a Patient Research Partner at the University of Calgary involved conducting systematic reviews, literature reviews, and knowledge translation activities. Currently, they are working as a Regional Community Engagement and Development Manager at Myeloma Canada. Chantel also has experience in event planning and fundraising as a Development & Event Specialist at Thrive Youth Development Canada.

Chantel Wicks has a strong education background. Chantel completed their Bachelor of Education with highest distinction (BEd) in the Intermediate/Senior Teaching Divisions at Ontario Tech University from 2009 to 2010. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in English, World Religion, and Geography at the University of Toronto from 2005 to 2009.

In addition to their degrees, Chantel has also obtained various certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. These include Articulate Storyline Essential Training and Foundations of Learning Management Systems (LMS) from LinkedIn, Change Management Foundations from the Project Management Institute, How to Design and Deliver Training Programs from LinkedIn, Indigenous Canada from the University of Alberta, Sexual Abuse Prevention Program from the Ontario College of Teachers, Edpuzzle Coach from Edpuzzle, and Reading Specialist from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto.

Furthermore, Chantel completed the New Teacher Induction Program (NTIP) offered by the Ontario College of Teachers in 2012, and they obtained their teaching certification from the same institution in June 2010.
