Tai D. has a diverse work experience that includes roles in various industries. They most recently worked at Cresco Labs, where they held the position of Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility. Prior to that role, Tai D. was the Vice President, Community Integration at the same company. They also held the position of Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs at Swish House. In addition, Tai D. worked as a Girls' Basketball AAU Coach and Skills Trainer at Flow Basketball Academy. They also served as a Consultant at Prime Chief of Staff, Executive Director - Chicago at Positive Coaching Alliance, and Attorney & Director of Corporate Affairs, Office of the Chief Executive Officer at Ariel Investments. Tai D. has also held coaching positions at the University of Chicago Laboratory High School and City of Chicago, Department of Law. They began their career as a Sales & Marketing Intern at WNBA Chicago Sky and served as an Associate Note and Comment Editor at the University of Iowa College of Law.

Tai D. received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a concentration in Gender & Women's Studies from Grinnell College in 2004. They then attended the University of Iowa College of Law from 2005 to 2008, where they obtained a JD degree. Prior to their college education, Tai D. attended the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools from 1996 to 2000. Additionally, Tai D. obtained a Gold Coach License from USA Basketball in August 2015 and became a Licensed Attorney through the ARDC: Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois in 2008.
