Julie Mills has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Julie began their career as a Communications Engineer at KMart in 1993. Julie then worked as a Software Engineer in New Business Incubator at TRW Business Intelligence Systems before joining Catapult Entertainment as a Senior Software Engineer. Julie later became the Director of Research and Development at Morgan Interactive and formed a subsidiary company, creating episodic websites for children. Julie then moved on to various roles at AOL, including Interim Head of IT Security, Project Director of IT Security, Director of Portfolio Management, and Director of Broadband Business Operations. Julie also served as the Director of IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance at AOL, where they ensured the protection of information assets and led compliance programs. Julie established their own company, Mills Technology, as the Founder in 2012. Julie then became the Chief Technology Officer at Local Orbit, where they were responsible for technology-related tasks and led a development team. In 2015, Julie joined Credit Union ONE as the Chief Information Security Officer. In 2017, they became a GIAC Advisory Board Member at the SANS Institute, where they provided commentary on SANS and GIAC processes.
Julie Mills has a diverse education history. Julie obtained an MBA in Business Administration and Management, General from The Wharton School from 2005 to 2007. Prior to that, they pursued an Honors BS in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Detroit Mercy from 1989 to 1993.
In addition to their degrees, Julie has also obtained several certifications. Julie became a Boardroom Certified Qualified Technology Expert (QTE) through the Digital Directors Network in May 2023. In March 2023, they earned the GIAC Cloud Penetration Tester (GCPN) certification from GIAC Certifications. Julie also achieved the Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certification from (ISC)Ā² in February 2023. Julie has held the GIAC Penetration Tester (GPEN) certification since September 2017 and became part of the GIAC Advisory Board in April 2017. Furthermore, Julie obtained the GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) certification in April 2017, the Certified Information Systems AuditorĀ® (CISA) certification from ISACA in March 2012, the Certified in Risk and Information Systems Controlā¢ (CRISC) certification from ISACA in October 2011, and the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)Ā² in March 2011.
Moreover, Julie achieved ITIL Expert status in 2009 and became a Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute in December 2007. Lastly, they hold the PCI Internal Security Assessor (ISA) certification from the PCI Security Standards Council, which is not currently active.
