Georgie McClean has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Most recently, they have been employed as the Executive Director of Development and Partnerships at Creative Australia since August 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Director of The Gist thegiststrategy.com.au from December 2019 to September 2021.
Georgie also worked at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS), where they held several positions including Acting CEO, Head of Corporate Strategy and Governance, and Head of Strategy and Governance from 2017 to 2019. Georgie has also worked as a Consultant at The Gist Strategy & Engagement, where they worked with clients such as Screen Australia, SBS, AFTRS, and the Institute for Culture and Society at Western Sydney University, from July 2016 to August 2017.
In the past, Georgie held positions at Screen Australia as the Senior Manager of Strategy, Research & Communications, and as the Manager of Strategy and Research from 2013 to 2016. Before that, they were the Manager of Policy, Research, and Community Engagement at the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Australia from 2003 to 2012. Georgie also has experience as a Curator at The Artist's Garden from 2001 to 2003, and as a Senior Instructor in the Curriculum and Training Team at MLS Tokyo from 1999 to 2001.
Georgie McClean holds a Doctorate of Cultural Research in Public Broadcasting and Cultural Diversity, which was obtained from Western Sydney University between 2007 and 2012. Prior to that, McClean completed a Master's of Arts (Communications) in Communication and Media Studies at RMIT University from 2001 to 2003. McClean's bachelor's degree, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Politics and English, was earned from the University of Melbourne between 1994 and 1997. Additionally, McClean obtained certification in Asialink Leadership from Asialink in the year 2014.
